Thanos’ appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had fans on their seats from start-to-finish. Josh Brolin’s portrayal turned him into an iconic movie villain and one to be remembered for years-to-come. He proved to be a compelling, layered antagonist. He was created by writer/artist Jim Starlin and first appeared in The Invincible Ironman #55 back in February 1973.

He is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe and has clashed with everyone over the years such as The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, The X-Men and the Fantastic Four. He is a mutant member of the race known as the Titanian Eternals. He possesses abilities common to the Eternals yet amplified by various factors including his mutant-Eternal heritage, bionic amplification, mysticism and power bestowed by the abstract entity, Death.
