Pixar Animation Studios began in 1979 as part of the Lucasfilm computer division, known as the Graphics Group. Since 2006 Pixar has been a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios. Pixar’s first movie was Toy Story (1995), which was the first-ever computer-animated feature film. The desk lamp character used as the primary mascot of Pixar Animation Studios is called Luxo Jr and was a character in the 1986 short film of the same name.
